Are there any guidelines about how to match kitchen cabinets, countertops and ceramic flooringl have small sort of galley kitchen with no natural light. I've
chosen birch cabinets and wanna make it look as bright and airy as
possible.l am planning on putting on the market and am investing in
granite countertops. So, any suggestions on how to keep it bright and make
everything complement each other is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You really want to stay EXTREMELY neutral when trying to sell
ur house, especially on permanent things like fixtures, cabinets,
appliances & countertops! Trust me, my counter top is a wonderful 60 is
teal & nothing matches it. Thankfully, I am not afraid of a challenge &
don't mind changing out the hard stuff & love home improvements.
If you go with a darker counter top like granite go with extremely cheery colors on the walls (yellow is great for trying to sell a kitchen as light, cheerful & CLEAN; buyers really look for clean!) I would go with a really light wood or paint the cabinets white to show off more Cleanliness & clean-crisp lines in ur kitchen. Also with a floor choose a lighter tile that matches ( you can not go wrong with white tile) or a really light hardwood finish or laminate. Go with very light, cheery colors & throw in some splashes of bright colors like lime & cherry colors in countertop decor & dish towels. It will make it seem fresh & clean & an easy sell. Plus the advantages of painting before selling are immense because that paint smell has a clean effect on ur brain & you want ur buyers to think that you were an emmaculent house keeper & that they too could keep up the clean effect. They want to be reassured that they aren't leaping off of a cliff & that it is going to be too much work to update & clean. Buyers come into ur home with what I like to call, ''What I need to Update Immediately'' List. If there are so many things on that list that they have to change before they can feel comfortable in that home, they will move on to something with less of a list. If they can buy ur home & immediately move into it & not have to drastically change wallpaper & paint as their first things it makes ur house look like it is completely ''Move in Ready'' as opposed to the house down the street where grandma & grandpa haven't updated it in 50 years. Home selling is hard so I wish you good luck!
The main goal of this prodject should be to make you happy. if
you re-sale in mind then try to stick with warm earth tones. However, you
should never MATCH anything, the main idea is to complement what you're
leaving in the room with the new material. Big thing is, make sure your
floor and counter tops do not match, use similar colors but different
patterns.
Good Luck and Have Fun!!
never follow decorating ''guidelines''.if it looks good to you,
then do it
Personal guideline. Do what makes you comfortable. You are the
one who lives there and has to look at it everyday. I have seen design
shows that do things I wouldn't put in my dogs house.
